Former Justice Minister Brigitte Zypries supports charity tournament in Traisa
The third Wildwasser Charity Cup , held on June 13th at the Darmstadt-Traisa Golf Club, raised nearly €21,000 for the Wildwasser Darmstadt association and its supporting organization. The donation will benefit counseling services for girls and women who have experienced sexual violence, as well as prevention programs. The event was under the patronage of former Federal Minister of Justice Brigitte Zypries.
Zypries: "The act takes place in all social classes."
Before the start of the charity tournament, Brigitte Zypries thanked the approximately 60 participants for their commitment. She emphasized how important it is to talk about and raise awareness of sexualized violence.
“This crime takes place in all social classes,” Zypries said. At the same time, she pointed to new challenges posed by digital media and artificial intelligence, which enable ever new forms of abuse and necessitate the continuous development of criminal law.
Proceeds are used for counselling and prevention
In addition to the entry fees, numerous donations and an auction with 25 prizes contributed to the fundraising result. Among the items auctioned were an e-bike, artworks from Darmstadt, and vouchers for the new golf simulator at the Darmstadt-Traisa Golf Club.
Ina Biehl-v. Richthofen from the support association made clear how great the need for support is: Wildwasser Darmstadt advised 481 affected people and relatives last year , including 138 girls between seven and 18 years old .
Theater project for special needs classes is made possible
The donation will allow the prevention project "My Body Belongs to Me" to be offered to special needs classes in the future. The interactive theater piece empowers children to recognize boundaries and seek help in cases of abuse.
Waltraud Heims from Wildwasser Darmstadt emphasized that the theatre project repeatedly helps affected children to confide in someone for the first time.
Already €64,000 raised in three years
Susanne Hachmann from the Wildwasser Darmstadt support association was delighted with the result of the third Charity Cup. Since the association was founded in 2023, around €64,000 been raised for the work of Wildwasser Darmstadt.
The association intends to continue its efforts to provide ongoing financial support for counselling and prevention work.
