Economic development and city marketing staff look back on projects, events and strong networks
Sebastian Hauf is retiring from his position in economic development and city marketing for the district town of Groß-Gerau. Since April 2019, he has shaped the city's social and economic life with projects, events, and initiatives.
Projects between digitalization and city festivals
His first tasks included the relaunch of the city's homepage and the further development of the city voucher "GG-Scheck" , which will celebrate its 15th anniversary in 2025 and now achieves annual sales of over 100,000 euros.
Even during the coronavirus pandemic, Hauf continued to provide creative inspiration: digital shop windows, shopping with wristbands, and new event formats kept city life vibrant. He expanded the cultural offerings with the "GG LOKAL" cultural summer and the return of the open-air cinema. He particularly remembers the first pyro-laser fireworks show at the 2023 Spring Awakening: "I stood there in the crowd, had goosebumps, and was simply grateful."
Thanks for support and commitment
With projects like the Easter and Christmas boxes , promotional days like "Shop Local," and the digital Advent calendar, Hauf strengthened the city center and its retail sector. He recently initiated the video format "GG INSIDE – Faces and Stories from Groß-Gerau," which is still ongoing.
also public relations : In addition to traditional press work, the city's social media presence grew on Facebook and Instagram.
"My thanks go to the many partners and sponsors, without whose commitment many things would not have been possible – especially the Groß-Gerau Business Association," said Hauf. The year 2025, in particular, demonstrated how strong the networks in Groß-Gerau are, when events such as the "GG läuft" , the Business Spring, and the open-air cinema were able to take place despite a lack of budget.
As he leaves, he reflects with appreciation: "Groß-Gerau is a fantastic city with incredible potential. It was a pleasure for me to be able to accompany this development."
