The city of Darmstadt, together with various authorities, has implemented a comprehensive package of measures to noticeably improve the situation around the "Golden Crown" area . The aim is to permanently increase the quality of life, safety, and cleanliness in this central area of the city center.
The area has undergone intensive cleaning in recent weeks and will be monitored more frequently in the future. New lighting will improve visibility during the evening and night hours. City and state police have also increased their presence in the vicinity. Furthermore, the city police and trade supervisory authorities regularly conduct joint operations .
Another step is the planned renovation of the Kleinschmidt footbridge , which will also include the removal of the previously problematic spiral staircase.
Head of Public Order Paul Georg Wandrey emphasizes:
“We take the concerns of our citizens very seriously. With the measures we have implemented, we are ensuring that safety, cleanliness, and the overall quality of life around the Golden Crown are noticeably improved. Our goal is to permanently eliminate problematic areas, spaces that inspire fear, and so-called ‘public urination spots’ and to revitalize this important part of our city center.”
