Seeheim Volunteer Fire Department demonstrates intergenerational volunteerism
On Father's Day, the Seeheim Volunteer Fire Department (FF) is focusing on families who volunteer together. In many cases, the fire department connects several generations.
Joint commitment of fathers and children
In the Seeheim-Jugenheim fire brigade, numerous fathers are involved together with their children – from the children's and youth fire brigade to the active operational unit and honorary unit.
To mark Father's Day, several families were photographed. The pictures show the different generations and illustrate the importance of volunteer work in many families.
Three generations in the Sturm family
A particularly interesting example is the Sturm family. Three generations are involved in the Seeheim fire department. While the grandfather is now part of the honorary and senior members' section, father and son are both active firefighters.
The fire department sees this as a sign of the strong roots of voluntary work in the community.
Career changers are also welcome
In addition to long-standing firefighting families, an increasing number of people without a family background are getting involved in the fire department. These new members enrich the community with new experiences and perspectives.
The fire department explicitly emphasizes that all interested parties are welcome – regardless of whether there is already a firefighting tradition in the family.
Invitation to participate
Families in particular, but also individuals, are invited to learn about the work of the fire department. Training sessions take place on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at Philipp-März-Straße 30.
