Three different routes will be offered on July 3rd
The science city of Darmstadt is once again inviting senior citizens to the traditional hike to the Heinerfest this year.
The event will take place on Friday, July 3rd. The meeting point is at 10:30 a.m. at the parking lot of the Darmstadt shooting club at Böllenfalltorweg 10. Mayor Barbara Akdeniz will welcome the participants there.
Three hiking groups planned
“The hike will take place on three different routes so that all participants can hike at their own pace and enjoy the hike together,” explains Akdeniz.
The hike is being organized jointly with the Darmstadt Senior Sports Club.
One group will cover a leisurely route of approximately four kilometers. A second group will hike around seven kilometers. A shorter route is also offered, which is suitable for seniors using wheelchairs or walkers.
Participants using non-electric wheelchairs may require an accompanying person.
Registration required for accessible route
For the shorter route, registration with the Social Services and Advice Center is required by Monday, June 29th.
The hike will be accompanied by Werner Götz, Edmund Meier, and Klaus Hochstätter from the senior citizens' sports club. Mayor Akdeniz will also join the hike and speak with the participants.
The event is supported by the Malteser Hilfsdienst eV, volunteers and staff of the social services and advice center.
Graduation at Heinergadde
Finally, all participants are invited to the "Heinergadde" of the Hausmann company. Drinks and a small snack will be offered there.
Participation in the hike is free and takes place regardless of the weather.
