Guided tours, computer courses, speed dating and dance afternoons are on the program
Guided tours, computer skills workshops, making new friends, and dancing together: The science city of Darmstadt is once again offering senior citizens a diverse program of events in September 2026. For some of the activities, prior registration with the Social Services and Advisory Center is required.
The program kicks off on Tuesday, September 8th, at 3 p.m. with a visit to the Darmstadt State Archives. Participants will get a behind-the-scenes look. Registration is open from August 10th to 21st.
On Thursday, September 10th, a guided tour of the Evangelical St. Matthew's Church is scheduled starting at 2 p.m. Registration for this tour is open from August 10th to 21st.
PC course with four sessions
Anyone wishing to improve their computer skills can participate in a PC course at the Heinrich-Emanuel-Merck School starting Tuesday, September 22nd. Classes will be held from 1:35 pm to 2:50 pm.
Further course dates are scheduled for September 29th, October 20th, and October 27th. A fee of five euros per session will be collected in cash for the class fund. Registration for the course is open from September 1st to 11th.
Speed dating for shared leisure activities
The speed dating event on Friday, September 25th , starting at 2:30 pm, isn't about finding a traditional partner, but rather about connecting with people for shared activities . Seniors can meet a partner for doing things together. Registration is open from September 7th to 18th.
Two dance events with live music can be attended without prior registration. On Friday, September 18th, dancing will take place from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal in Darmstadt-Eberstadt. Another afternoon of dancing will be held on Thursday, September 24th, from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm in the Bürgersaal of the Luise-Büchner-Haus in Darmstadt-Kranichstein.
