Two teams from SG Arheilgen defy the heat and strong competition
The triathlon division of SG Arheilgen fielded two teams at the Rodgau Triathlon around the Nieder-Roden bathing lake. In temperatures around 32 degrees Celsius, the competition demanded a lot from the athletes. Besides the sporting results, the Arheilgen team focused primarily on their collective performance as a team.
One SGA team competed in the 5th Hessenliga, while another team started in the 2nd Seniors League. The traditional triathlon was organized by TSV Dudenhofen.
Seventh place in the Hessenliga
Manuela Östreich, Torsten Velde, Moritz Mattern and Lukas Beckmann competed for SG Arheilgen in the 5th Hessenliga. Together they achieved seventh place out of eight teams.
Stephan Prosser, Axel Reinhardt, Guido Götz and Anselm Schüle represented SGA in the second senior league. The quartet finished in a respectable fifth place out of twelve participating teams.
The flat and fast courses of the Rodgau Triathlon offered good conditions for an exciting competition. At the same time, the high temperatures and light winds made the race more difficult for the athletes.
Teamwork on the cycling and running course
After swimming in the Nieder-Roden bathing lake, the athletes headed out onto the bike course, which was completely closed to traffic. There, SG Arheilgen relied on a strong team performance. The athletes supported each other by drafting behind one another and motivating each other in the transition areas.
On the final running leg along the lakeshore, endurance and willpower were once again required in temperatures exceeding 30 degrees.
For the SGA triathletes, it wasn't just the final standings that mattered. The shared experience of competing together and the camaraderie within the two teams made the race day a special occasion. With the results from Rodgau, the Arheilgen athletes now move on to the next competitions of the season.
