Participation in the Wings for Life World Run and World PH Day Run for a good cause
Several members of the SG Arheilgen triathlon team participated in charity events at the beginning of May. On May 4th, Ulrike Bickert took part in the worldwide "Wings for Life World Run" charity run. 100% of the proceeds from the run go to spinal cord research. The run is held simultaneously around the world – participants run individually using an app or together in person. Thirty minutes after the start, a "Catcher Car" appears. If a runner is overtaken by it, the race is over. Ulrike Bickert started at a relaxed pace and was caught by the virtual car after 10.89 kilometers.
On May 5th, more SGA runners participated in the World PH Day Run, which raises awareness of the rare disease "pulmonary hypertension". The event took place in Frankfurt and offered two symbolic distances: the 1-kilometer Zebra Run (symbolizing rare diseases) and the 5-kilometer Elmo Feil Run, named after a deceased pediatric cardiologist.
Marina Lefort and Axel Reinhardt (SGA Chairman) completed the 5-kilometer race. Lefort crossed the finish line in 24:21 minutes, taking first place in her W50 age group. Reinhardt followed two seconds later (24:23 minutes), finishing fourth in the M55 age group. Henri Lassig (SGA Sports Director) completed both distances consecutively – the 1-kilometer in 11:25 minutes (M30 age group, first place) and the 5-kilometer in 1:16:58 hours. Bernd Eisele also participated for SGA. The Arheilgen athletes were supported by, among others, Rainer Kappes (BSG Merck), Astrid Gelsema, and Lothar Esser (Spiridon Frankfurt).
The participants' sporting efforts were guided by the motto: "Simply being there – for a good cause."
