The Office for Social Planning invites you to an exchange on October 19th
How can people in Darmstadt participate in social life regardless of age or life situation? What support do families, older people, or people with disabilities need? These and other questions will be addressed on Monday, October 19, 2026, in the WDC pavilion "Knowledge for All" in front of the Justus Liebig House.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Social Planning Office of the City of Darmstadt will present its work. Citizens can learn about existing services, ask questions, and contribute their own experiences and suggestions.
Social participation, health and inclusion are the focus
The Office for Social Planning deals with various aspects of social life. These include social participation, health, inclusion, the prevention of child poverty, the needs of older people, and community work.
On the day of action, these topics will be presented in a clear and engaging way. City specialists will provide information about available support services and will be available for personal consultations.
This includes questions such as how people in different phases of life can participate in social life and what kind of support is needed for certain population groups.
Citizens can contribute their own ideas
In addition to presenting the city's services, the focus is on direct dialogue. The Office for Social Planning wants to learn what issues concern the people of Darmstadt, where additional support is needed, and what ideas they have for a positive community life.
Mayor and Social Affairs Officer Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes the importance of dialogue: "Social participation, health and inclusion affect us all, at every stage of life."
Therefore, the city wants to engage in dialogue with residents, listen to their concerns, and work together to determine what services are needed locally. The pavilion offers an easy way to learn about the office's work and to contribute one's own ideas.
WDC Pavilion as a venue for societal future issues
The “Knowledge for All” pavilion is part of the World Design Capital (WDC) program, which deals with future issues of social coexistence.
With this event, the science city of Darmstadt aims to raise awareness of its work in the field of social planning and at the same time gather suggestions from the population.
Everyone is invited to visit the pavilion and exchange ideas with the city's experts.
