Bessunger Straße and Kranichsteiner Straße: 16 new apartments with cheap entry rents planned
In its meeting on May 7, 2025, the magistrate of the Science City of Darmstadt decided on grants for two construction projects of Bauverein AG, which are implemented as part of social housing funding. This is intended to create a total of 33 new apartments on Bessunger Straße and Kranichsteiner Straße - 16 with social support.
"Creating affordable living is our political mandate," emphasizes Mayor Barbara Akdeniz. "Especially with the Bauverein AG as a partner, well -thought -out densification and gaps in construction work are urgently needed in the city."
Two projects, 16 subsidized apartments
In Bessunger Straße 131–157 and Niersteiner Straße 7–17, 20 new apartments are being built by densification, nine of which are socially promoted. In Kranichsteiner Straße 33–37, 13 apartments are built by a building gap - seven of which are funded, divided into four for small and three for medium -sized incomes. In addition, six residential units are created with twelve living spaces for students and trainees.
According to the city's funding guidelines, the entry rents are 6.91 euros/m² (low income) and 8.29 euros/m² (medium income). The apartments on Kranichsteiner Straße correspond to the efficiency house standard 40 , which enables a moderate rent increase of 0.30 euros/m². All apartments are accessible.
The city subsidizes the projects with a total of 562,000 euros - 345,000 euros for Bessunger Straße and 217,000 euros for Kranichsteiner Straße. The funding is linked to the additional state funding of the State of Hesse.
Still great demand for living space
2,912 applicant households for subsidized apartments are currently 2,407 for apartments with low, 505 for medium -sized incomes. There are around 5,800 occupancy -bound apartments . The number of registered households has only decreased slightly compared to the previous year, said Akdeniz.
"So our actions are still required," says the mayor. "Every new socially funded apartment helps to relieve the housing market - whether by building, modernizing or acquiring occupancy rights."
