City reduces the annual fee and introduces digital application procedures
As of July 1, 2025, the science city of Darmstadt introduced a revised regulation for special parking cards from traders. The annual fee for the ID is now uniform 120 euros - analogous to the resident parking permit. The aim of the reform is a fairer use of the public parking space and the promotion of sustainable operational mobility .
In addition to the reduction in fees, a digital and standardized application procedure was introduced. The trader can now download the application form via the digital town hall of the city of Darmstadt and send it to the road traffic authority by email:

Season for ID card for larger fleet
Also new is a staggered regulation on the number of parking cards that companies can apply for. While small businesses benefit from the low annual fee, the costs for larger companies with extensive fleet are increasing. The city wants to encourage larger companies to use its own parking spaces or to develop alternative mobility strategies .
Mobility director Paul Georg Wandrey emphasizes:
"The adapted range of special parking certificates remains generous and inexpensive in the regional comparison - especially for smaller commercial users. At the same time, we set targeted incentives for a fairer use of parking space and more personal responsibility in the use of space."
