Police take stock – fastest driver clocked at 165 km/h on the A67
As part of the Europe-wide ROADPOL Speedmarathon 2025 campaign , the South Hesse police conducted intensive speed checks on Wednesday (April 9). Between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., approximately 50,000 vehicles were checked at 70 measuring points . 2,101 speeding violations were recorded – corresponding to a violation rate of 4.2 percent .
Top performers on the A67, in Viernheim and Darmstadt
The three most serious speeding violations were recorded on the A67 between Büttelborn and Darmstadt, in Viernheim and on the B3 in Darmstadt :
- 165 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the A67
- 162 km/h in a 100 km/h zone in the Viernheim area
- 157 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the B3 (Karlsruher Straße) in Darmstadt
The drivers involved fines of up to €600, points on their license , and driving bans of one to two months. The 22-year-old driver from Darmstadt was still in his probationary period – he therefore faces additional measures.

The South Hesse police thank all road users who obey the rules. "Speed is one of the main causes of serious traffic accidents. Everyone who follows the rules actively contributes to road safety," said a police spokesperson.
