Regional cantor Jorin Sandau will open the concert series on August 29th in Darmstadt
Regional cantor Jorin Sandau will open the organ weeks at St. Ludwig Church in Darmstadt on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 6 p.m. Under the title "Orpheus and 'The Manes of Bach'," works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Nicolaus Bruhns, Paul Hindemith, Max Reger, Christian Heinrich Rinck, Hans Werner Henze, and György Kurtág will be performed.
Hindemith, Reger, and Rinck establish a connection to the Rhine-Main region in the program. Furthermore, the opening concert commemorates the 100th birthdays of Hans Werner Henze and György Kurtág in 2026. Works by Bach and Bruhns complement the program with music from the Baroque period.
Jorin Sandau will explain details of the concert program at 5:30 p.m.
