Group advocates for peace and education with the district administrator
Following a lovely tradition, the carol singers visited the district administration office of Groß-Gerau Friday, January 2nd , in anticipation of the upcoming Epiphany on January 6th District Administrator Thomas Will welcomed the group of nearly 30 carol singers from the Catholic parish of St. Walburga and St. Nicholas of Flüe in Groß-Gerau and Büttelborn in the building's foyer.
Accompanied by Tobias Sattler on guitar, the children performed songs and blessings, conveying the Christmas message: "We come to you and sing with joy. God comes to people, then and now."
Commitment to peace and children's rights
With their songs, the carol singers promoted peace, hope, and the goodness in humanity – especially in a world often perceived as cold. In terms of content, they also addressed the motto of the nationwide carol singing campaign in 2026 :
"School instead of factory – carol singing against child labor."
The collected donations support partner organizations that enable children worldwide to attend school, including in Bangladesh . Short case studies from the perspective of affected children illustrated how difficult it is for young people who have to contribute to their families' livelihoods from an early age and are thereby exposed to risks to their health and future prospects.
The carol singers symbolically presented the district administrator with items such as tools or a first-aid kit to draw attention to these risks.

Thanks and appeal from the district administrator
District Administrator Thomas Will thanked the group for their commitment, renewed the traditional blessing above a door in the district office, donated a sum of money and gave the children an important appeal: to pay attention to products that without child labor – for example, clothing or toys.
To conclude their tour, the carol singers enjoyed hot chocolate and pastries before continuing their rounds. They will be out and about in Groß-Gerau and Büttelborn Sunday, January 11th – visiting town halls, the district hospital, the district savings bank, and retirement homes, among other places.
