Autumn concert with Bernstein, Ravel and Márquez on October 18th in the Römerhalle
Dieburg – The Hessian State Youth Wind Orchestra (LJBO) will present a vibrant autumn concert on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the Römerhalle Dieburg. Under the direction of Jens Weismantel, the young musicians, aged 14 to 25, will perform a program ranging from Renaissance dances to Broadway rhythms.
Program between classical and modern music
The focus of the evening is the “Symphonic Dances” from Leonard Bernstein’s world-famous “West Side Story” – an energetic suite that combines elements of jazz, Latin, Broadway and symphonic sound.
In addition, three other works will be performed:
- Maurice Ravel's "Pavane pour une infante défunte" in the arrangement by Johan de Meij, a delicate, melancholic dance piece,
- Bob Margolis' "Terpsichore", inspired by the collection of around 300 dances by composer Michael Praetorius,
- as well as Arturo Márquez's "Danzón No. 2" in an arrangement by Oliver Nickel – a classic of Latin American wind music.
Young talents from all over Hesse
The LJBO Hessen unites young talents who have qualified for the ensemble through an audition. Intensive rehearsal periods foster a collaborative sound where technical skill, expressiveness, and team spirit converge. This creates an orchestral sound that both impresses and unites.
