EAD and Darmstadt City Library invite children to listen in November
Darmstadt. Children aged four and up can look forward to two special story times at the Darmstadt City Library . The municipal services department (EAD) to the Darmstadt City Library (Große Bachgasse 2) on Friday, November 8 , and Friday, November 15, 2025 , both at 11 a.m. Admission is free.
The reading events focus on environmental protection, sustainability, and responsibility . Readings will be taken from the books "Stories for Little World Savers" – featuring ten stories about changes in the world – and "So Much Trash!" , which explains in a child-friendly way why it's important to avoid plastic.
Take children seriously and encourage them to think for themselves.
“Whether it’s environmental protection, sustainability or climate change: children want to protect the world they live in. Our goal is to convey to them that their ideas are taken seriously and that they can bring about change,” emphasizes City Treasurer André Schellenberg .
Holger Klötzner, the city's education officer, also sees the initiative as sending an important message: "The city library is a place for all age groups – there's always something new to learn. If children experience early on that commitment to the community is something positive, then that's a great start."
With the story times, EAD and the city library want to encourage children to actively take responsibility for their environment
