The municipal senior citizens' services in Groß-Gerau invite you to music, interactive activities and social gatherings on September 2nd
Under the motto "Colorful House," the Groß-Gerau Municipal Senior Citizens' Services invites everyone to a summer festival at Haus Raiss on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. From 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., visitors can expect a diverse program in the courtyard at Frankfurter Straße 46, featuring music, dance, creative activities, and numerous opportunities to participate.
The summer festival was originally scheduled for June 24th. However, due to the extreme heat at the time, the event was postponed until September.
The motto "Colorful House" refers to the diversity of services and people at Haus Raiss. A significant contribution to this is made by the numerous user groups and volunteers who contribute their ideas and commitment. They also play a major role in organizing the summer festival.
Music, dance and numerous interactive activities
The event kicks off at 2 p.m. with coffee and cake. Later, musical entertainment will be provided by the "Fidelen Ukulelen" and the "Musikalische Nachmittag" (Musical Afternoon). DJ Günter will also be spinning tunes and inviting everyone to dance. Around 4 p.m., Groß-Gerau's mayor, Jörg Rüddenklau, will welcome the guests.
In addition, there are numerous hands-on activities and information sessions. The creative group invites visitors to paint stones, while the social and integration office offers paper flower making. The "Grandmas Against the Right" are hosting a slogan-guessing game, and the Parkinson's self-help group is offering mini table tennis.
In addition, there will be traditional Gerer costumes as part of the town's history, a flea market for handbags and scarves organized by the over-60s group, and a fence weaving activity using fabric scraps as part of a senior citizens' project. Various organizations, including the Alzheimer's Society, will be providing information about their work at their own stands.
Volunteers support the festival
A great deal of volunteer work is also involved in the catering. The intergenerational support group organizes the cake buffet, while Mirogh Catering provides other food. Members of various groups take care of decorations, the drinks stand, service, and the kitchen. The DLRG's first aid service is also provided by volunteers.
The senior citizens' group is still accepting donations of items for the summer festival. They are looking for cakes, handbags, scarves and shawls, as well as strips of fabric.
Not only regular guests of Haus Raiss are invited. People who would like to get to know the facility and its services and get a taste of what it offers are also expressly welcome.
