With a 1:1 (1:0) draw at SC Preußen Münster, SV Darmstadt 98 secured their place in the league three matchdays before the end of the season.
In a hard-fought away match, Luca Marseiler put Darmstadt ahead shortly before halftime. The hosts equalized in the second half through Mees. Despite a lack of highlights, relief prevailed at the end: "We mathematically secured our place in the league today. I want to give the team and staff a huge compliment for that. We've had a very, very difficult season with an injury crisis in the winter that continues to this day. To stay up on matchday 31 under these circumstances deserves praise," said head coach Florian Kohfeldt after the final whistle.
