Winners from Riedstadt rewarded for their commitment with trophies, certificates and ice cream
Riedstadt – During a small ceremony at the ice cream parlor on the town hall square, the most successful participants from Riedstadt in this year's City Cycling campaign in the Groß-Gerau district were honored. Mayor Marcus Kretschmann and Sandra Seum from the Environmental Department thanked all participants for their efforts and presented them with their well-deserved awards and certificates while they enjoyed ice cream.
“I think it’s fantastic that we even had 116 more cyclists this year. And I was especially pleased that the challenge cup has never changed hands,” Kretschmann explained with a smile. Since the challenge cup was introduced in 2021, it has gone to Riedstadt every time – and they were able to defend it again in 2025. With 5.92 kilometers per inhabitant, Riedstadt once again leads Mörfelden-Walldorf (5.31 km) and Stockstadt (4.39 km) . In terms of total kilometers cycled, Riedstadt takes third place with 137,859 km , behind Rüsselsheim (248,649 km) and Mörfelden-Walldorf (170,911 km).
Double victory for Martin-Niemöller-School
Martin-Niemöller-School was particularly successful , winning gold twice:
- Largest team with 305 active cyclists
- Most kilometers traveled: 44,937 km
The second largest team was the Kita der kleinen Füße Erfelden (Erfelden Little Feet Daycare Center) with 92 participants, followed by TSV Goddelau with 87. TSV Goddelau also received bronze for 9,848 km in the "most kilometers" category. Silver went to the open team Riedstadt , which 10,422 kilometers .
Impressive individual achievements
The following groups were in the lead in the ranking of kilometers per team member
- Gold: “The Losers” (823 km per member)
- Silver: “Seniors without an electric motor” (637 km)
- Bronze: Open Team Riedstadt (453 km)
In the individual standings, Stefan Hummel once again came out on top with 1,495 kilometers Patrick Hummel , who 1,400 kilometers . Since Patrick was not present, his father accepted the certificate on his behalf.
Even the youngest registered participant was recognized: Helge Scharun (2 years and 5 months) was unable to attend in person, but five-year-old Emma Schmitt from the "House of Little Feet" daycare center received special recognition for her contribution to the team performance.
