Top international female players will compete at TC Bessungen from July 13th to 19th
The Tennis International women's is celebrating a special anniversary this year: From July 13th to 19th, 2026, TC Bessungen will host the 50th edition of the long-established world ranking tournament. Players will compete for a total prize purse of US$40,000 and valuable points for the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) world rankings.
For decades, the tournament has been considered one of the most important international women's tournaments in Germany and has made a name for itself far beyond the borders of Hesse. For many young players, the competition in Darmstadt has been the springboard to the top of the world rankings.
From Bessungen to the big tennis stage
Few German tournaments can boast a comparable list of former participants. Even as up-and-coming talents, players like Steffi Graf, Andrea Petkovic, Anke Huber, Laura Siegemund, Jule Niemeier, Tamara Korpatsch, Ons Jabeur, Karolina Pliskova , and Clara Tauson graced the court in Bessungen. Many of them later made it to the international elite.
It is not without reason that the saying "Whoever plays in Bessungen will amount to something" has been true at TC Bessungen for many years.
A tradition spanning almost five decades
The tournament's history began in 1977 as the Heinerfest tournament for regional players. Just a few years later, the event developed into an international competition. Since 1986, the women's tournament has been part of the official world ranking calendar and is now a fixture on the international tournament circuit.
Numerous sponsors, the Hessian Tennis Association, and above all, the extensive volunteer work of club members have contributed to the tournament's success over many years. The tournament combines top-class tennis with a friendly atmosphere and has long been considered a social hub for the tennis community in southern Hesse.

In addition to exciting matches, visitors can once again expect the popular festival grounds with catering options and a relaxed atmosphere around the tennis facility this year.
