Arts and crafts and design on August 15th and 16th – numerous exhibitors will be showcasing their work
Wood, glass, ceramics, metal, precious stones, fabric and leather: On Saturday and Sunday, August 15 and 16, 2026, Friedensplatz will once again become a meeting place for arts and crafts and design. At the traditional Darmstadt Arts and Crafts Market, artisans from the region and from all over Germany will present their work.
Between the Hessian State Museum and the city center, visitors can browse for jewelry, ceramics, fashion, art objects, and home decor ideas. In addition to familiar exhibitors, numerous new stalls are also represented this year.
The market is more than just a sales area. At many stalls, visitors can watch the artisans at work and chat with them. Among the crafts on display are jewelry making, wood carving, and the custom tailoring of leather belts. Some products can even be personalized on the spot.
Opening by Mayor Hanno Benz
The arts and crafts market will be officially opened on Saturday, August 15th, at 11 a.m. by Darmstadt's mayor, Hanno Benz.
“Anyone strolling across Friedensplatz will discover extraordinary one-of-a-kind pieces, experience traditional and modern craftsmanship up close, and have the opportunity to talk to the people behind the works,” says Benz. It is precisely this mix of tradition and innovation, as well as established and emerging craftspeople, that makes the market so exciting year after year.

Food and drinks will also be available. Among other things, coffee specialties, fresh juices and cakes, wines from the Odenwald winegrowers' cooperative Vinum Autmundis, falafel, and Korean specialties will be offered.
On both days, the City Piano provide musical entertainment. The City Furniture Boxes offer seating as well as games and interactive activities. The Darmstadt Arts and Crafts Market is once again supported this year by the science and technology company Merck.
