The municipality asks visitors to keep a watchful eye
Theft and vandalism in cemeteries are unfortunately a nationwide phenomenon in Germany. The Nauheim cemetery is now also affected: In August, a total of approximately 14 cases of metal theft and damage were reported. Among other things, perpetrators stole precious metal crosses, decorative figures, and permanently installed bronze lights and lanterns.
Mayor Marc Friedrich expressed his deep sorrow:
"I am shocked and saddened by the thefts at the cemetery in Nauheim. It leaves me speechless to see graves desecrated like this. We have unfortunately discovered that decorative figures and other grave ornaments have been stolen, and some graves have been deliberately damaged."
Support for those affected
Since grave decorations are private property, those affected must file a police report themselves. The Nauheim registry office offers support in this matter and is in close contact with the relevant authorities.

Appeal to visitors
The municipality requests that all visitors to the cemetery be especially vigilant and report any suspicious observations immediately. The aim is to prevent further crimes and protect the memory of the deceased.
