The exhibition offers insights into the works and new studio of the Darmstadt artist
With the exhibition "Breathe!", Darmstadt-based painter Ulrike Rothamel presents works from various creative phases at the Atelierhaus Darmstadt from July 17th to 26th, 2026. The focus of her artistic interest is the human being – not in the sense of a classical portrait, but as an expression of inner states, memories, and feelings.
Breath becomes the central motif, serving as a metaphor for being, for vitality, and simultaneously for the fragility of human existence. Rothamel's works explore perception, emotion, and the traces of human experience.
The exhibition also features a premiere: For the first time, Ulrike Rothamel is opening her new studio in the Atelierhaus Darmstadt to visitors. The artist has been working there in Room 02 since January 2026. Throughout the exhibition, she will offer insights into her working process and her artistic environment.
