An information evening on October 22nd at the district office will present voluntary training for the natural design of gardens and balconies
How can gardens, balconies, and other small spaces be designed to contribute to biodiversity? A new initiative in the Groß-Gerau district addresses this question. They are seeking volunteer urban nature guides who are passionate about creating natural spaces and would like to share their knowledge with others.
Interested parties can learn about the project and the planned training at an information event on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Groß-Gerau district office.
Training in five workshops
The future urban nature guides will be prepared for their volunteer work in five workshops. They will acquire knowledge about how to create habitats for plants and animals and promote biodiversity, even in limited spaces.
They should then pass on their knowledge to other interested parties and support them in designing gardens, balconies and smaller green spaces in a natural and biodiversity-friendly way.
The project was developed in cooperation with BUND Darmstadt.
Information evening for interested parties
The event is aimed at citizens who want to volunteer and contribute to promoting urban nature. Prior knowledge is not mentioned as a requirement in the announcement.
In addition to information about the training, the evening offers an opportunity to get to know the project and to explore the possibilities of creating a natural environment in one's own surroundings.
