The "Blessed on the Road" campaign accompanies travelers at the start of the holidays in Hesse
With the start of the summer holidays in Hesse on July 4th, many families are embarking on their vacation season – full of anticipation, but also with a desire for safety and a blessing for their journey. A special event on Saturday, July 5th, 2025, offers just that: Under the motto "Blessed on the Road," pastors and lay preachers from the Protestant Deanery of Darmstadt to a holiday blessing at the Gräfenhausen West rest stop .
From 7 am to 12 pm, chaplains are available to respond to individual requests for blessings, to hold conversations, or simply to provide a brief moment of peace in the everyday hustle and bustle of travel.
The initiative is supported by "FEST im Leben ," the innovation and coordination office of the Protestant Deanery of Darmstadt, together with the Darmstadt City Youth Ministry . The aim is not only to wish travelers a good start to their holidays, but also to offer spiritual support along the way.
“We look forward to blessed encounters and to providing a short respite even during the greatest holiday stress,” say the coordinators, Pastor Astrid Maria Horn and City Youth Pastor Dagmar Unkelbach .
