Anonymous data collection for sustainable mobility planning
Since February 13, 2025, a new traffic counting device has been located at Darmstädter Straße 18a in Groß-Gerau, anonymously recording traffic data. The device, a Topo.box4G model from RTB, is a radar-based sensor system with certified FSK technology and has been tested by the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt).
Measurements for sustainable mobility
The device records data such as speed, vehicle class, and noise emissions , and will continuously provide data until September 2025. These measurements will serve as the basis for a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) , with which the city of Groß-Gerau aims to guide the long-term development of its traffic.
In addition, the collected data will be incorporated into the Transform-R project . Here, test measures are analyzed within the framework of a real-world laboratory to test innovative solutions for the mobility of the future.
Targeted measures for Groß-Gerau's transport planning
"The reliable information provided by the device allows us to gain important insights for future mobility planning. This will enable us to develop targeted measures to make mobility in Groß-Gerau more sustainable and efficient," explains the Office for Urban Planning and Construction Management .
