Nature group officially names its meeting place "Vole Headquarters"
The "Wühlmäuse Malchen" (Malchen Voles) celebrated the start of the warmer season with their traditional winter bonfire. At the same time, the nature group's long-standing meeting place in Malchen received its first official name: "Wühlmauszentrale" (Vole Headquarters).
Seasonal festivals are part of the tradition
The Wühlmäuse (Voles) celebrate four seasonal festivals each year. Besides the winter bonfire, these include the summer solstice, the harvest festival, and a star hike. For many participants, the winter bonfire symbolically marks the beginning of the new year.
For more than 30 years, Eckhard Woite's garden and house on Frankensteinerstrasse have served as the group's meeting place. Now, after several rounds of voting, the name "Vole Center" has been officially adopted.

Herb excursion and clay oven
Before the naming ceremony, a herb walk around the grounds was on the agenda. A total of 15 different herbs were collected and then used to make herb quark and salad.
The clay oven also proved very popular. After several hours of heating, pizzas and tarte flambée were baked there.

Nature experiences for young and old
The participants, ranging in age from two to almost 90, spent the day talking, listening to music, and enjoying shared activities. For the coming months, the "Wühlmäuse" (a local group) are planning activities including wildlife observation, overnight stays, and cycling and paddling trips.
The group is committed to experiencing nature and promoting biodiversity. Further information can be found under the keyword "Die Wühlmäuse Malchen" (The Malchen Voles).
