Science City participates in the nationwide warning day on 11 September
On Thursday, September 11, the science city of Darmstadt will participate in the nationwide warning day . Starting at 11 a.m., sirens will be activated throughout the city, and a warning will be issued simultaneously via the well-known warning apps such as NINA and hessenWARN be sent directly to suitable cell phones via cell broadcast
The test alarm begins with a one-minute rising and falling siren tone, which serves as a "warning to the public" . At 11:45 a.m., the test ends with a one-minute continuous tone signaling . "
Behavior in the event of a real warning
In an emergency, citizens should observe the following measures:
- Go to enclosed spaces, close doors and windows
- Turn on the radio or television and listen to announcements
- Inform neighbors
- Watch warning apps like NINA or hessenWARN
- Switch off ventilation and air conditioning systems
Cell Broadcast: Warning directly to your mobile phone
Cell Broadcast enables direct delivery of alerts to mobile phones – even without an app installed. This requires a current operating system and test alerts enabled in the notification settings. The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) provides an overview of compatible devices.
