Emergency fresh water supply points have been set up in Eulerweg and Flughafenstraße
A large water main break occurred in Griesheim during the night of Monday, April 29, affecting the high-rise buildings on Eulerweg and Flughafenstraße. According to the municipal utilities, approximately 1,000 residents are affected by the interrupted water supply. The exact location of the break is still unclear.
Since 1 a.m., city utility workers have been working to ensure an emergency drinking water supply. Two fresh water taps are now available to residents – one on Eulerweg in front of house number 22 , and the other on Flughafenstraße in front of house number 1a .
“The top priority now is to ensure the water supply for residents,” explains Klaus Nothnagel, head of the municipal utilities. Due to an unusually high water pressure of up to 10 bar – significantly above the city average of 4.5 to 5.5 bar – it cannot be ruled out that there are multiple pipe breaks.
The municipal utilities expressly ask all residents to observe the barriers , as parts of the paths in the affected area may be unstable due to erosion.
Background: The water pipes in question date back to 1974/75 and were laid by the developer during the construction of the high-rise building. After completion, the pipes were handed over to the city of Griesheim.
