Golfers collect 812 euros for children with cancer / local heroes win gross ratings
In bright sunshine, the second after-work tournament of this year's WCGTour took place in the Zimmerer Golf Club. Already in the eleventh year in a row, the tournaments combine sporting ambition with social engagement-this time again: a total of 812 euros came for the association for cancer and chronically ill children Darmstadt / Rhein-Main-Neckar e. V. (VKKD) together.
In addition to the sporting competition, the focus was again on the good purpose. The participants initially earned 173.50 euros through birdies, pars and bogeys. This sum was doubled by the tour partners. Another 465 euros were added as part of the award ceremony by donating the participants.
From a sporting point of view, two local heroes used their home advantage particularly well: Petra Koten and Thorsten Biezer from the Zimmerer GC each won gross rating and thus secured participation in the final tournament on August 9 in the Golfersort Gernsheim. In the net ratings, Daniel Rödler and Maximilian Ellinger convinced with 28 points over 9 hole. All winners of the gross and handicap classes A to C as well as the special ratings received gift baskets from Edeka Patschull and other prizes from this year's tour partners.
The award ceremony with subsequent get-together traditionally took place on the terrace of the club restaurant. In the best weather, we talked into the evening, eaten and plans for the upcoming tournaments.
The WCGTour continues on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the month price in the Golf Club Bensheim.
