Final concert in Mörfelden delights with diverse program
GROSS-GERAU DISTRICT – The first Youth Singing Week in the Groß-Gerau district concluded with an exhilarating closing concert on Friday, August 15. Despite the midsummer temperatures, the mixed project choir presented a short concert in front of around 50 family and friends at the SKV Mörfelden sports club.
Enthusiasm for choral music
The 16 participants, aged 12 to 23, spent a week practicing vocals, rehearsing in choirs, and learning about singing theory. At the concert, they received enthusiastic applause and praise for their performances. The program ranged from pieces by Udo Jürgens to a song from the Iranian women's movement to a song by Rihanna.
Support from partners in the district
The Youth Singing Week was initiated by the Cultural Office of the District Administration and the Sparkasse Foundation, which fully funded the project. Other partners included the Groß-Gerau Singers' Circle, the Mainspitze Singers' Circle, and the Hessian Choral Youth. The PopCHORn of the SKV Mörfelden took over the organization. The Groß-Gerau Singers' Circle also supported the youth work with a check for the choir.
Organization and lecturers
Project planning had already begun the previous year with 14 preparatory meetings. The main organizational responsibility was borne by the three young members of the youth choir PopCHORn, Anna Küchler, Anja Kresse, and Kyra Emmerich. Conductor and instructor Adrian Goldner led the singing week and motivated the group through intensive rehearsals. The program was supplemented by workshops from Marvin Heppenheimer (stage presence), Ben Höhnel (beatboxing), and Lisa Meier (vocal painting).
Perspective for the future

Elke Landau from the District Cultural Office thanked everyone involved and emphasized the desire to offer a youth singing week or a similar choir weekend in the district annually, or at least every two years. The overall organization will be transferred to the two singing circles of Groß-Gerau and Mainspitze.
