Cooperation between family center and zoo starts with workshops and tours for children
The science city of Darmstadt is now offering new courses for families with children of preschool and primary school age Vivarium Zoo . the family center has developed a varied offer that combines education, leisure and nature experience.
Workshops on species protection, pets and wild birds
In child -friendly workshops and thematic tours, for example, children learn how wild birds can be protected, what an aquarium needs or how zoos contribute to species protection. The events take place in the Vivarium zoo school and are accompanied by experienced experts.
Following the tours, families can explore the zoo individually, observe animals and use play and rest options.
City emphasizes the educational value of the new offers
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz is pleased about the cooperation:
"The new cooperation offers families the opportunity to immerse themselves in the animal world and to expand exciting learning opportunities."
City treasurer André Schellenberg adds:
"As a place for leisure and relaxation, the zoo also makes a valuable contribution to education. In age -appropriate workshops, children learn more about biology and species protection."

The zoo school is already active as an extra -curricular learning location for kindergarten groups, school classes and also senior citizens. Under the motto "Observe, hearing, smelling and partially touching", biological content is conveyed in a clear and age -appropriate manner.
