New impetus for more participation and movement in the Groß-Gerau district
A special qualification program in the Groß-Gerau district concluded on July 3, 2025, with a formal license award ceremony at Dornberg Castle: 15 participants received their C-level coaching licenses in recreational sports with a focus on "Children and Youth." This marked another milestone for integration and participation in club sports.
The intercultural training program was conducted for the second time as part of the Groß-Gerau district's sports development plan . It was organized by the district's movement coordination office in cooperation with the district adult education center , the sports promotion agency , the Groß-Gerau sports association , the Hessian sports youth organization , and the Blau-Gelb Groß-Gerau sports club .
Education and exercise for all
The aim of the initiative is to provide people with and without a migration background free childcare , sports-oriented language support , and tandem learning family-friendly planning, which took into account school holidays and Ramadan, also contributed to the high level of acceptance.
“Access to education should be open to everyone who is interested,” emphasizes movement coordinator Patrizia Frank . The “Inclusive Climbing” module, led by Dr. Matthias Grell (Friends of Nature) , was particularly impressive, as it involved practicing rope commands in ten languages – a creative contribution to intercultural competence.
Involvement in clubs and educational projects
The new instructors will be active sports clubs, schools, and health projects in the Groß-Gerau district Hessian Movement Check in primary schools or the Everyday Fitness Test for seniors . A specially established pool of instructors ensures their long-term involvement.

A sequel is already being planned
Another training course in the southern district is being planned . "Interest is growing steadily – not least due to recommendations from our previous graduates, as well as the support of sports coaches and the job center," explains Patrizia Frank. The program not only helps combat the shortage of instructors , but also reduces waiting lists in children's sports .
Last year, 25 people successfully participated in Rüsselsheim – some of them even went on to obtain the basketball D-trainer license .
