Module 2 will cost €185 per month in the future – city continues to invest in expanding all-day childcare
From August 1, 2025, the monthly parental contribution for Module 2 of the "Pact for All-Day Schooling" (PfdG) in Darmstadt will be increased from the current €140 to €185 . This was decided by the Darmstadt City Council on May 21. The increase is part of a long-term dynamic adjustment program that provides for an annual adjustment of the contributions.
Contribution increase necessary – expansion remains the goal
The decision is being made against the backdrop of a tight budget and growing demand for childcare places. School superintendent Holger Klötzner explains:
"Given the budget situation and the increasing demand for childcare places, the current cost contribution in Module 2 cannot be maintained. Nevertheless, we continue to invest heavily in expanding all-day childcare so that the legal entitlement can be met from 2026 onwards."
Module 2 covers childcare from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Module 1 (7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) remains free of charge to promote the concept of a structured all-day school.
Legal entitlement from 2026 onwards in focus
€890,000 in the 2024/25 school year be fully invested in the further expansion of childcare places approximately 400 places .
The long-term goal is to ensure the nationwide legal entitlement to all-day care in primary school, which will come into force gradually from 2026 and should be fully implemented 2029
