Local history society looks back on the history of asparagus cultivation
The local history society Gräfenhausen/Schneppenhausen eV invites you to the exhibition “Asparagus, a look at the land and its people” in the city library in the media ship from May 26th.
The exhibition deals with the history of asparagus cultivation in Weiterstadt and the districts of Braunshardt, Gräfenhausen and Schneppenhausen.
A look at earlier asparagus tradition
The focus is on the beginnings of regional asparagus cultivation, when numerous smaller farms – often as a secondary occupation – grew asparagus.
The exhibition also shows the development of agriculture in the region and recalls earlier ways of working and living.
Library complements exhibition with books
The city library accompanies the exhibition with an additional selection of books on local history and asparagus recipes.
The exhibition can be visited during the library's regular opening hours.
