Coding protects against theft – great interest among citizens
Ober-Ramstadt. A total of 32 bicycles coded by officers from the local police station on Sunday (July 20) as part of Ober-Ramstadt Volunteer Fire Department's annual festival . The service was very well received by visitors – in addition to children's bikes, high-quality e-bikes and a cargo bike marked with individual security codes.
With the so-called FEIN coding, a combination of letters and numbers permanently engraved into the frame. This contains encrypted information about the rightful owner. In the event of theft, the police can unequivocally identify the bicycle upon recovery – and the visible coding often deters thieves in the first place.
Protection and information – police provide on site
The bicycle coding service was organized by the Ober-Ramstadt police station as a preventative measure against bicycle theft. In addition to the coding, officers were also on hand to provide information about other security measures. A police motorcycle on display also generated considerable excitement, especially among the younger festival-goers.
The police recommend that all bicycle owners have their bikes coded. Further coding events in the region are announced regularly.
