Preliminary signage before classes start
Griesheim. Construction work on the new bicycle path in Griesheim is largely complete. Most of the asphalt and marking work was completed during the last week of the holidays, with minor remaining work, such as the installation of missing bicycle pictograms, to be completed in the coming days.
Right of way at red marked intersections
To ensure the amended traffic rules take effect in time for the start of school, temporary signage will be installed next weekend. Due to delivery difficulties at the manufacturers, the final signage cannot be installed until later.
With the installation of the temporary signs, right-of-way will apply at all red-marked intersections on the cycle path. At unmarked intersections, the "right-before-left" rule will remain in effect. "Shark teeth" road markings have been installed at these locations for better orientation.
Completion of work and further information
Once the permanent signage is installed, Goethestraße and the rebuilt section of Darmstädter Straße will be officially designated as bicycle streets. From that point on, the full traffic regulations for bicycle streets will apply.
Information on the new regulations can be found in the City of Griesheim flyer here . Additionally, two guided bike tours on the new route will be offered on Climate Action Day on September 13th – at noon and 4 p.m., respectively. Details about the action day can be found online .
