Temporary signage before the start of classes
Griesheim. Construction work on the new bicycle street in Griesheim is largely complete. Most of the asphalt and marking work was finished during the last week of the school holidays; minor finishing touches, such as applying missing bicycle pictograms, will follow in the coming days.
Priority at red-marked intersections
To ensure the revised traffic regulations are in effect by the start of the school year, temporary signage will be installed this coming weekend. Due to delivery delays from the manufacturers, the final signage will not be installed until later.
With the installation of the temporary signs, priority will now apply at all red-marked intersections on the bicycle street. At unmarked intersections, the "right before left" rule will remain in effect. For better orientation, "shark's teeth" markings have been applied to the road surface at these intersections.
Completion of work and further information
Once the permanent signage is installed, Goethestraße and the redesigned section of Darmstädter Straße will be officially designated as bicycle streets. From that point on, the full traffic regulations for bicycle streets will apply.
Information on the new regulations can be found in the City of Griesheim's flyer here . Additionally, two guided bike tours on the new route will be offered on Climate Action Day, September 13th – at 12 pm and 4 pm. Details about the event can be found online .
