High voter turnout and narrow races for the direct mandate
In the election to the 21st German Bundestag, the citizens of the district town of Groß-Gerau showed a high turnout. 82.15 percent of those entitled to vote used their voting rights and took part in the early Bundestag election. Of the total of 16,875 voters, 13,863 citizens made use of their right to vote. 156 votes were rated as invalid, which corresponds to a share of 1.13 percent.
First votes: close race between the SPD and CDU
In the first votes, SPD and CDU candidates fought a close race. SPD candidate Melanie Wegling achieved the most votes with 4,292 votes (31.31 percent) , closely followed by Marcus Kretschmann (CDU) with 4,263 votes (31.10 percent) .
Second votes: CDU in front of the SPD and AfD
The second vote result shows a differentiated political landscape in Groß-Gerau:
- CDU: 3,900 votes ( 28.39 % )
- SPD: 2,833 votes ( 20.62 % )
- AfD: 2,041 votes ( 14.86 % )
- Greens: 1,708 votes ( 12.43 % )
- Left: 1,288 votes ( 9.38 % )
- Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW): 734 votes ( 5.34 % )
- FDP: 634 votes ( 4.61 % )
