City offers free training in cooperation with Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences
Following the successful Citizen Solar Advisor project, the city of Büchnerstadt plans to apply the model to energy-efficient building renovation. For this purpose, the city is seeking volunteer Citizen Renovation Guides to provide neighborhood assistance on all aspects of renovation.
"The concept is a huge success! Now we want to apply the idea to the energy-efficient renovation of buildings—because this area simultaneously offers enormous savings potential and great uncertainty," emphasizes Mayor Marcus Kretschmann.
Until now, renovation manager Bernhard Krick has been providing free advice in Riedstadt, but the high demand has exceeded his capacity. "We don't want to replace the work of professional energy consultants, but rather complement it," explains Krick. "Many people first need an introduction: What options are available? Where are subsidies available? And when is professional support from experts necessary? This is where neighborhood assistance can make a big difference."
Training in cooperation with Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences
To prepare future renovation pilots, the city of Riedstadt, in cooperation with Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, offers a free training course. Interested parties participate in Professor Krick's seminars alongside students. Support is also provided by the Ried Energy Community (EGR) and the Citizen Solar Advisors.
