Darmstadt Adult Education Center promotes career entry through learning tandems
The Darmstadt Adult Education Center has been offering a preparatory course for the external secondary school leaving certificate for many years. Participants are prepared for the exam in three weekly evening classes covering mathematics, German, natural sciences, and social sciences. The program is now receiving additional support from the Darmstadt Citizens' Foundation.
Support for successful completion
Since the beginning of the year and until May 2025, the Darmstadt Citizens' Foundation is supporting the "Learning Tandems" project. This innovative concept aims to provide targeted support to young adults without a school-leaving certificate and prepare them as effectively as possible for their secondary school leaving certificate. Head of Education Holger Klötzner emphasizes the importance of the project: "The secondary school leaving certificate is a crucial first step for entering the professional world. It opens up diverse opportunities for vocational training and lays the foundation for a successful professional future."
Mentoring through learning tandems
The project is aimed at people who have not yet been able to obtain a school leaving certificate. Through the learning tandems, they receive not only academic support but also help with self-organization and motivation. "Education is the key to social participation and personal success. With the learning tandems, we want to offer participants valuable support to help them develop their individual potential to the fullest," explains Dr. Markus Hoschek, Chairman of the Board of the Darmstadt Citizens' Foundation.
New course starts in September
The next preparatory course for the external secondary school leaving certificate begins in September 2025.
