The anniversary celebration on October 1st at the Woog offers music, art events and guided tours with free admission
The Darmstadt Youth Hostel at Woog is turning 75.The anniversary will be celebrated on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 5 pm to 9 pm with a cultural and family program. Admission is free.
For 75 years, the youth hostel has welcomed guests from various countries. Today, according to its own figures, the hostel records around 20,000 overnight stays per year. Guests include school classes, families, groups, and clubs.
Between Woog and Mathildenhöhe
The youth hostel is located directly on the Großer Woog lake and near the Mathildenhöhe. In addition to overnight accommodation, the hostel offers rooms for conferences and educational programs.
The Darmstadt facility belongs to the German Youth Hostel Association (DJH). According to the association, there are around 30 youth hostels in Hesse and approximately 400 nationwide. The goals of this non-profit organization include youth development, education, environmental awareness, and international understanding.
Music, art and guided tours for the anniversary
The anniversary celebration on October 1st will feature speeches and live music by Tobi Vorwerk. Martin Samt will offer an art workshop, and Mike Wuhleier will organize activities for children. There will also be a live art performance by artists from Darmstadt.
Visitors can also learn about the youth hostel and its history on guided tours. A photo booth and a prize wheel are also part of the program. Food is offered at a buffet.
The anniversary celebration will take place from 5 pm to 9 pm at the Darmstadt youth hostel on the Woog . Admission is free.
