The 40-year-old will take on responsibilities in youth, education and social security in the Groß-Gerau district
Koray Karabiyik (The Left/Open List) took up her honorary position as Second Deputy District Administrator of the Groß-Gerau district in September. District Administrator Thomas Will and First Deputy District Administrator Adil Oyan officially welcomed the 40-year-old to the district administration office.
Karabiyik's responsibilities include the departments of youth and family, education and schools, and social security. Specifically, she is responsible for the district's educational counseling center, youth services including the Ober-Seemen holiday village, and inclusion issues .
Focus on education and inclusion
After graduating from high school in Groß-Gerau, Karabiyik studied educational science in Mainz. Her diploma thesis already focused on the topic of "inclusion in adult education".
Since 2014, she has worked full-time as a consultant at the Rhineland-Palatinate State Center for Environmental Education. Her focus there is on education for sustainable development and nutrition. Among other things, she conducts cooking workshops in daycare centers, schools, and other educational institutions. She continues this work alongside her volunteer position as a county councilor .
Voluntary work in Worfelden
Karabiyik lives in Büttelborn and is involved in various activities in her hometown of Worfelden, including a children's nature group run by the youth organization. She is also active in the Freier Lernort association and a fair trade group. Politically, she is involved with the Left Party. (KreisGG)
She cites educational equity and education for sustainable development as key areas of her political work. "I really enjoy mentoring young people and supporting them in their personal development," says Karabiyik. She adds that this also involves conveying values and fostering social cohesion.
