Presentation on November 3 – City relies on experience and innovation
The Science City of Darmstadt has appointed the firms responsible for the planning of the new neighborhood, children's, and youth center in the Woogsviertel district. The Darmstadt-based firm of Bernhardt + Partner Architekten was awarded the contract for the building design, while the Kassel-based planning association Landschaft + Freiraum will be responsible for the open space planning.
Center as a meeting place for children, young people and neighborhood
Mayor and Social Affairs Director Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes: "The Neighborhood Children's and Youth Center will be a vibrant meeting place for children, young people, and the neighborhood. With today's step, we are moving a big step closer to its realization."
Planning Director Michael Kolmer also emphasizes the importance of the selection: "By choosing experienced yet innovative firms, we are reaching another milestone. Their expertise in building on existing structures and in participatory open space design is crucial for the project's special location."
Offices bring extensive experience
The Europe-wide procurement procedure was conducted as a negotiated procedure with competitive bidding.
- Bernhardt + Partner Architects have many years of experience in public construction and have already implemented several projects in Darmstadt.
- Landschaft + Freiraum specializes in nature-oriented open space design and participatory planning processes, including projects such as the participatory construction site in the Waldgarten Kassel.
Presentation of the plans on November 3
The two offices will be presented at the next meeting of the Local Partnership (LoPa) on Monday, November 3, 2025. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., interested parties can learn about the plans and talk with the planners at the NaturFreundeHaus.
Financing through urban development funding program
