SV Darmstadt 98 loses 0-1 after a weak first half and finishes the game with ten men
First defeat of the season in the second game: SV Darmstadt 98 lost 0-1 (0-1) away to Dynamo Dresden. Jonas Sterner scored for Dresden in the 12th minute. Darmstadt also lost Kai Klefisch to a red card.
A well-executed combination put the hosts in the lead, although neither Klefisch nor Patric Pfeiffer intervened decisively enough. In a lackluster first half, Darmstadt failed to create a single dangerous opportunity in front of the Dresden goal.
In the second half, the introduction of Lars Kehl for Yosuke Furukawa injected some much-needed dynamism into Darmstadt's play. However, it wasn't until the 68th minute that they created their first real chance, when new signing Milan Smit fired wide from a tight angle. Three minutes later, Klefisch was sent off with a second yellow card. Coach Florian Kohfeldt made three more attacking substitutions for the final ten minutes – to no avail.
