Joint exhibition presents personal perspectives on the science city
How do people see their city when they go exploring with a camera? The joint exhibition "Life in Darmstadt – Everyday Life & Magic", on display from July 1st to 31st, 2026 in the White Tower in Darmstadt, provides answers to this question.
Eleven photographers from Darmstadt and the surrounding region present their very personal perspectives on the city of science. The exhibition unites diverse photographic approaches and showcases well-known locations as well as everyday scenes from city life.

Darmstadt from different perspectives
The exhibition features photographs of key locations such as the city center, the Mathildenhöhe, the Woog lake, and the State Theatre. In addition, the photographers focus on life in public spaces and situations that are often overlooked in everyday life.
The exhibition combines documentary, romantic, and experimental visual languages to create a multifaceted portrait of Darmstadt. Each photograph tells its own story about the photographer's relationship to their city.

Opening with Mayor Hanno Benz
The exhibition will open with a private viewing on July 1st at 4 pm. Hanno Benz will give a welcoming address.
The photographers involved are René Antonoff, Erik Brammer, Antonio Efisio Crabulo, Hans-Dieter Illing, Johannes Kaiser, Monika Klugmann, Werner Mansholt, Jürgen Peters, Sebastian Pöthig, Gottfried Scheel-Häfele and Oliver Stienen.
