210 additional parking spaces are intended to relieve pressure on school grounds and residential areas
The new parking garage at the vocational schools in Groß-Gerau has been officially opened. Before the start of the summer holidays, school principal Sabine Kämpf, district administrator Thomas Will, mayor Jörg Rüddenklau, and Claus Albrecht, managing director of the general contractor Goldbeck, cut the ribbon at the entrance. The parking garage is scheduled to open at the start of the new school year.
The new building will create a total of 210 additional parking spaces. Of these, 185 are located in the parking garage, and another 25 parking spaces have been created in the outdoor area. The aim is to significantly reduce parking pressure around the vocational schools, the district sports hall, and the scaffolders' guesthouse at the water tower.
Completion despite unexpected challenges
Construction began in November 2025. After the demolition of the old facilities, initial delays occurred following the discovery of historical Wehrmacht equipment underground. Additionally, utility lines on the site had to be reorganized.
Nevertheless, according to the district, the project was completed on time and within budget. The total cost amounted to approximately 4.3 million euros.

Sustainable construction and a look to the future
At the opening ceremony, District Administrator Thomas Will and Goldbeck Managing Director Claus Albrecht particularly emphasized the excellent cooperation and the sustainable construction methods. The parking garage features, among other things, a green roof, green facades, rainwater infiltration via trenches, and is already prepared for the future installation of electric vehicle charging stations.
Principal Sabine Kämpf linked the opening with the hope that the further modernization and new construction projects at the vocational schools could now be implemented quickly in order to create contemporary learning conditions.
Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau welcomed the additional parking spaces, which should also relieve the surrounding residential areas in the future.
Initially intended for school use
The parking spaces will be available to students and teachers of the vocational schools in Groß-Gerau starting next school year. Furthermore, the possibility of using the parking garage outside of school hours, for example during events at the district sports hall, will be examined.
