The district sports youth organization invites you to action, exercise and participatory activities
Under the motto "Playing Together," the Darmstadt-Dieburg Sports Association Youth (SKJ) is organizing its 9th Family Sports and Games Festival on Sunday, September 7, 2025. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the grounds of SG 1886 Weiterstadt at Aulenberg will be transformed into a colorful world of adventure for children, teenagers, families, and anyone interested in sports.
The opening ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. with SKJ Chairman Dirk Reinheimer, First County Councillor Lutz Köhler, Mayor Ralf Möller, and representatives of the Darmstadt-Dieburg sports district and the clubs.
Sports and fun for all generations
At around 30 stations, visitors can try out various forms of movement – from circus acrobatics and Zumba to ball games like basketball, beach volleyball, and mini-tennis. A six-meter-high climbing tower, the SKJ's XXL football dartboard, and the Hessian Sports Youth's soccer mobile also provide sporting challenges. The activities are inclusive and aimed at all age groups – from toddlers to seniors, from locals to newcomers.
Participants receive a card on which each completed station is stamped. Those who complete all tasks receive a certificate at the end. Individuals can also participate and use the stations individually or together with others.
Voices of the organizers
“It will be an open and inclusive festival for all members of society, who are encouraged to participate and inspired by sports,” explains SKJ Chairman Dirk Reinheimer.
Elisa Böhler, Deputy Chairwoman of the District Sports Youth Association, adds: “We are convinced that this will give many people the incentive and motivation to engage in regular physical activity.”
Michael Gießelbach, Chairman of SG 1886 Weiterstadt, emphasizes the intergenerational aspect: “Families rarely exercise together – here they can experience it.”
And District Sports Association Chairman Rafael Reißer stresses: “The festival is a prime example of how cooperation and integration can succeed in sports.”
Cooperation and support
The event is being organized by SG 1886 Weiterstadt in cooperation with numerous partners, including the volunteer agency, TC Just Dance, DLRG, BSG Weiterstadt, and SV Weiterstadt. Mayor Ralf Möller emphasizes: "The festival should become a permanent fixture in our city's event calendar."
The family sports and games festival is one of the most important mass sports events in the region and offers impetus to use movement and forms of play in clubs, schools, daycare centers or senior citizens' meeting places.
