Sportkreisjugend invites you to action, exercise and participation offers
Under the motto "Playing Together," the Darmstadt-Dieburg Sports District Youth (SKJ) is hosting the 9th Family Sports and Games Festival on Sunday, September 7, 2025. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the campus of SG 1886 Weiterstadt am Aulenberg will be transformed into a colorful adventure world for children, young people, families, and sports enthusiasts.
The opening ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. by SKJ Chairman Dirk Reinheimer, First District Councillor Lutz Köhler, Mayor Ralf Möller and representatives of the Darmstadt-Dieburg Sports District and the clubs.
Sport and fun for all generations
At around 30 stations, visitors can try out various forms of exercise – from circus acrobatics and Zumba to ball games like basketball, beach volleyball, and small-sided tennis. A six-meter-high climbing tower, the SKJ's XXL soccer darts game, and the Hessen Sports Youth Soccer Mobile also provide sporting challenges. The activities are inclusive and aimed at all age groups – from toddlers to seniors, from locals to newcomers.
Participants receive a running card with a stamp for each completed station. Those who complete all tasks receive a certificate at the end. Individuals can also participate and use the stations individually or together with others.
Voices of the organizers
"It will be an open and inclusive festival for all social groups, who are encouraged to participate and get excited about sports," explains SKJ Chairman Dirk Reinheimer.
Elisa Böhler, deputy chair of the Sports District Youth Association, adds: "We are convinced that this will encourage and motivate many people to participate in regular sports."
Michael Gießelbach, chairman of SG 1886 Weiterstadt, emphasizes the intergenerational aspect: "Families rarely exercise together – here they can experience it."
And Sports District Chairman Rafael Reißer emphasizes: "The festival is a prime example of how cooperation and integration can succeed in sports."
Cooperation and support
The event is being organized by SG 1886 Weiterstadt in cooperation with numerous partners, including the Volunteer Agency, TC Just Dance, DLRG, BSG Weiterstadt, and SV Weiterstadt. Mayor Ralf Möller emphasizes: "The festival should become a permanent fixture in our city's events calendar."
The family sports and games festival is one of the most important mass sports events in the region and offers impulses to use exercise and games in clubs, schools, daycare centers or senior citizen centers.
