Go.BioFair will showcase current projects from three Darmstadt neighborhoods
How are the Pallaswiesen and Morneweg districts, the Waldkolonie, and the area around Kapellplatz, Woog, and Ostbahnhof developing? The City of Darmstadt will provide information on this at the Go.BioFair on Friedensplatz on Saturday, September 5th. Employees of the city planning office will present current projects and plans from three urban development areas at an information booth.
Visitors can find out about the status of the individual measures, ask questions and talk to the city's experts.
“The projects in our funding areas combine social, ecological and urban development and thus make an important contribution to the sustainable enhancement of public space,” explain Planning Director Paul Georg Wandrey and Mayor Barbara Akdeniz.
New design around Woogsplatz
In the Kapellplatz/Woogsviertel/Ostbahnhof development area, the focus is, among other things, on the further development of Lindenhofstraße, Mühlstraße, and Woogsplatz. The current status of the draft plan will be presented at a public information session.
Furthermore, the city provides information on funding opportunities for private greening projects. Property owners can learn about the support available for climate-adapted design of private spaces, as well as for rainwater retention and management.
The area is part of the urban development program "Growth and Sustainable Renewal".
The green space “Im Tiefen See” is to be upgraded
In the Pallaswiesen and Morneweg district, or PaMo for short, a key focus is the redesign of the green space "Im Tiefen See." It is to be further developed into an open space for play, sports, recreation, and social interaction. At the same time, the ecological qualities of the area are to be enhanced. According to the city, suggestions from the neighborhood have been incorporated into the planning.
The area surrounding the community center at Kirschenallee 180 is also slated for redesign. Plans include an accessible meeting place with improved amenities. The PaMo project is part of the urban development program "Social Cohesion.".
Development concept for Waldkolonie and Akazienweg
For the Waldkolonie/Akazienweg development area, which also belongs to the "Social Cohesion" program, an Integrated Urban Development Concept (ISEK) is currently being developed.
Together with residents and local stakeholders, goals and concrete measures for the further development of the neighborhood will be defined. At the Go.BioFair event, the city will provide information on the current status of the process and the current priorities.
“Our urban development areas are more than just investment spaces – they are places where we shape the future,” Akdeniz emphasizes. The goal is to develop vibrant neighborhoods, strengthen social participation, and create good conditions for a livable home.
