Anniversary: Guided tour with city guide Udo Steinbeck on July 8th – registration required
To mark its 80th anniversary, the Darmstadt Regional Council (RP) once again opening its doors to the public. Following the great success of the first event in May, a second historical tour of the listed administrative building will take place on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 .
The meeting point for the approximately 90-minute tour is at 12:45 pm in the foyer of the main building at Luisenplatz 2. begins at 1:00 pm . Participation is free, but registration is required.

City guide with insider knowledge
Following a welcome address by Regional President Prof. Dr. Jan Hilligardt the renowned city guide Udo Steinbeck , himself a former employee of the Regional Council, will once again take over the tour. Visitors can look forward to numerous historical insights and surprising anecdotes .
The tours are part of the anniversary series celebrating the agency's 80th anniversary . Another tour is planned for September. The series will conclude with a ceremony in November – this is reserved for invited guests.
A historic site with a checkered past
The Kollegienhaus (College House) on Luisenplatz in the center of Darmstadt for around . It was originally built under the Landgraves, later served as the seat of the Ministry of the Interior in the People's State of Hesse, and was the scene of political developments in the fight against National Socialism. Today, the Darmstadt Regional Council (RP Darmstadt) is responsible for one of the strongest economic regions in Germany.
The guided tour clearly demonstrates how past and present are intertwined .
