Heavy transport for the new main fire station causes traffic disruptions on the night of June 30th
On the night of Monday, June 29th, to Tuesday, June 30th, Gräfenhäuser Straße in the area of the Tacke junction in Darmstadt will be temporarily closed. This is due to the delivery and installation of a medium-voltage transfer station for the new main fire station.
As the science city of Darmstadt announces, the station, weighing around 30 tons, will be erected on the northern edge of the construction site on Gräfenhäuser Straße near the railway bridges.
Temporary full closure during crane operation
To deploy a large mobile crane, the southbound lanes must first be closed. Since the crane's counterweights extend beyond the remaining roadway, the last remaining passable lane will also be briefly and completely closed during the actual lifting operation.
According to the city, this complete closure will only last about three minutes.
Working at night
The work will begin at 10 p.m. and is scheduled to be completed by 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the latest. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible during the work.
